New Dishes at Yabu House of Katsu

Seems like Yabu will stop at nothing to please their fans. They've recently released excitingly interesting dishes that amplifies the current Yabu craze!

cold spinach salad with goma sauce

One of the two new appetizers at Yabu is the Cold Spinach Salad with Goma {Sesame} Sauce. The vitamin-packed spinach {considered a superfood} is drenched with nutty sesame sauce, topped with bonito flakes and sprinkled with black sesame seeds. The sauce's creamy, sweet and tangy; a little bit thicker than Yabu's much raved sesame dressing. It's really good! I actually like this one better than the Iidako Salad, mostly because I have a penchant for spinach.

I was expecting the baby octopus to be gritty, tough and chewy. You know how cephalods are sometimes. It takes a certain skill for them to come out palatable. Yabu's version doesn't belong to the mentioned description, rather it was soft and tasted really fresh. The sauce's sweet with a bit of a kick. Slices of crunchy cucumber was added to the mix along with chopped spring onions and black sesame seeds.

rosu katsu

The Rosu Katsu, a Yabu fave, is now made with U.S. pork! Same greatness, different pork. Is there really a diff? The taste is the same, of course - spectacular! There is a subtle difference with the texture actually. It is more tender.

miso katsu

Okay, this one I love! Sweet and salty miso sauce's poured over the delectable Kurobuta pork {also available in Rosu and Hire} and served on hot Japanese plate. You need extra, extra, extra cup of rice for this one. I did.
