One of the finest Chinese restaurant's in the Philippines, Gloria Maris Shark's Fin Restaurant, has found a new and bigger home in Greenhills. It has moved a couple of meters away - but still within the Greenhills Shopping Complex - from its former location along Club Filipino Drive to the new one at Missouri St.
The newly constructed building showcases a glass circular area that allows passersby to take a peek inside the restaurant's magnificent interiors.
The usual aquarium in Chinese restaurants is transformed into a conversation piece at the new Gloria Maris with its beautiful illuminated acrylic wall panel.
Compared to its former location, this new one is huge, cooler, and definitely better designed.
The focal point of the restaurant is this grand semi-spiral staircase with glass railing that leads to the spacious function room on the second floor.

Crabmeat and Corn Soup |
The soup choice when we are with our two boys at any Chinese restaurant is always Crabmeat and Corn. Can be tiresome ordering the same soup each and every time but when the soup is this hearty, creamy, and flavorful, we happily oblige. The fresh corn and crab meat makes this soup divine. We just didn't like that there were bits and pieces of crab shells in the soup.
Steamed lapu-Lapu with Soy Sauce |
As mentioned in my other post, J7 (Son 2) loves Steamed Lapu-Lapu with Soy Sauce. Gloria Maris' version is a real hit with our boys! The freshness and softness of the fish, light soy sauce, and loads of scallions and cilantro leaves makes this dish irresistible! I prefer drizzling my steamed white rice with a whole lot of that sauce! Yum!
As a shrimp lover, nothing can be more tastefully gratifying than fresh-from-the-tank steamed shrimps. I just love the naturally sweet taste of these! Once peeled, I like to soak them up for two minutes in the delicious dipping sauce before I eat them.
Beef Tenderloin Chinese Style |
This is the first time we've tried stir-fried beef tenderloin and we are very pleased. The meat's so soft even though it is cooked through and the sauce is distinguishably sweet with a bit of sourness to it.

Birthday Noodles |
One of our favorite noodles from Gloria Maris are these Birthday Noodles. I liked the delicious and rich sauce but found the noodles really soggy that night.

Yang Chow Fried Rice |
While our youngest and I prefer steamed rice, J2 (hubs) and J6 (Son 1) are crazy over fried rice. Actually, they're crazy over fried anything! The mixture of morsels of fluffy rice, roast pork, prawns, chopped scallions and carrots makes for one delicious fried rice. I like that its not swimming in oil, not too salty, and had that distinct wok hei flavor.
Though currently in mid-stream of their soft opening, the quality of food and service were satisfying. Congratulations on your new home and cheers to more delicious and exciting years of good food Gloria Maris!
