Art Fair Philippines 2013 Highlights Contemporary Filipino Works
Upon the invitation of Citigold, my husband and I attended Art Fair Philippines' maiden venture yesterday. Flocked by art enthusiasts, the fair highlights contemporary works from various Filipino artists. It was a huge success! We had a very picturesque reminder of just how talented Filipinos truly are!
The Art Fair Philippines was conceptualize to give proper deference to contemporary Filipino artists who have succeeded internationally. Organized by Trickie C. Lopa, Lisa O. Periquet, and Dindin B. Araneta, the Art Fair Philippines is housed in a seemingly unusual location - a carpark. The sixth floor parking lot of The Link was transformed into a makeshift art gallery by Leandro V. Locsin Partners and furniture designer extraordinaire, Kenneth Cobonpue.
Twenty-four galleries were created to feature the exhibits of Filipino greats such as Mark Justiniani, Charlie Co, Roland Ventura, Leeroy New, David Cortez, Manuel Ocampo, Gabriel Barredo, Luis Lorenzana, and Bembol dela Cruz. Wonderful pieces abound; it was a complete struggle to choose just one.
The whole "artistic vibe" will not only be confined within the The Link carpark. AFP has partnered with Ayala Land Inc. to initiate the Urban Art Project. Since February is National Arts month, various large-scale artworks will be installed all throughout the Makati area this month.
Here are a few of the amazing pieces that you will find at the Art Fair Philippines 2013:
Tin-Aw
Silverlens
Asphalt
Watching the Watchmen
Boston Gallery
Pablo
Secret Fresh
Now Gallery
Altro Mondo
Galleria Duemila
