Apart from the cooler weather and Christmas day itself, Misa de Gallo is the other thing that truly excites me during this time of the year. I like attending the nine-day traditional mass {I really do...I swear} and the breakfast dates with my boys right after.
We make it a point to go to different restaurants right after mass. We're gonna add a new one to our list this year: Italianni's. It's only recently that I've found out that they've added breakfast dishes to their menu. The dishes are created by Chef Josh Boutwood {Bistro Group of Restaurant's corporate chef}. It's currently available at two out of the sixteen Italianni's branches - Bonifacio High Street and Greenbelt 2.
We've always loved their food and would frequent the branch nearest us. What I like most about this restaurant is the fact that their prices coincide with the quality of the food they serve. Looking at what we ate now, I'd have to say that it was an egg-citing morning.
Homemade Corned Beef Brisket with Potato Omelet PhP 295 |
This is my favorite out of all I've tried when Guia {Food Reviews Manila} and I went to Italianni's BHS. Never give in to first impression. I thought that the corned beef brisket would be tough because it appeared parched. It was the complete opposite. It was tender enough to pull apart with a fork and all the good flavors were embraced by the meat. The subdued taste of the potato omelet was the perfect partner for the dynamic flavor of the corned beef brisket. The sunny-side up egg makes the whole dish creamier and richer.
Classic Egg Florentine PhP 275 |
A pair of mollet eggs {perfectly boiled leaving the yolks creamy and the whites soft and wiggly} lies on a bed of toasted English muffin and doused with Mornay sauce. The sauce made the whole dish come alive with its deliciously rich dairy taste.
Classic Croquette Madame PhP 275 |
Smoked ham, cheese and roasted tomato nestled between two toasted chunks of bread topped with runny fried egg makes the Classic Croquette Madame one hearty breakfast sandwich!
Banana and Walnuts Pancake PhP 275 |
Pancakes are of course, a breakfast favorite. Italianni's Restaurant's delicious varieties will definitely suit every taste palate. We were torn between the Chocolate and Orange Pancakes and the Banana and Walnuts. We opted for the latter because we thought that the former would be too sweet.
The three-pancake stacks were light, spongy and delicious! A scoop of vanilla ice cream, fresh bananas, walnuts, a generous amount of maple syrup and a sprinkle of confectioner's sugar elevated the taste into a grand level.

The prosciutto is not part of Italianni's restaurant's breakfast menu but I couldn't resist ordering it. I love this cured ham with buttery soft texture! One of my faves at Italianni's as well along with the Stuffed Mushrooms {abbondanza always}.
