I believed the old wives' tale - 'eating for two' - when I was pregnant with my first son. By the third trimester, I tipped the scale at 185 lbs. At 5'4", that is extreme. I lost almost 50 lbs. barely two months after giving birth through a route that shouldn't be taken. It took a toll on my body for some time. I would've followed The Fat Kid Inside's healthy guide had I known it then.
I have the perfect body composition for obesity: low metabolism, high appetite. Extreme appetite, actually. I am at war with food every single hour of the day.
It takes a lot of effort on my part to lose weight and keep the weight off. I don't do it for aesthetic purposes. I'm scared of diabetes. My mom long suffered from it and the complications were the reason for her early demise. I'd rather limit my food intake than not eat my favorite dishes forever. That's what having diabetes will do to you.
This is probably the most overused cliché quote I have ever written on my blog, but the truth it comes with is golden: "Health is wealth". A topnotch health is the best gift you can ever give yourself.
You don't need to spend a fortune to get healthy as evidenced by Erwan Heussaff's video. You need only one vital thing to make it work: determination. No one said it would be easy; only doable.
This is really a great video worthy to be shared. It's highly informational and quite easy to understand, although I would've preferred it if he talked a little slower.
For those who are listing down their New Year's resolution, please put 'get healthy' on top. I will do that again this year. If I have to slap myself every day to follow it, so be it.
For all my friends who possess supersonic metabolisms, I want you to know that I hate you all and it's never okay to eat like a horse in front of me. I just pretend that it is.
Merry Christmas, y'all! :-)
