I've long been meaning to re-create the Hermès Trompe L'oeil
Dress, but my nervousness hampers the execution. This is simple enough to do for the highly creative. As for me, I have to go through an extensive trial-and-error phase before I get it right. It will take some time, but I will get it done.
The Trompe L'oeil Dress was created in 1952 as part of a collection of pieces that evoked illusion. Trompe L'oeil is a type of painting that creates an appearance of reality. Fabrics were painted with the particular features of a shirt dress - pockets, collar, and buttons. A scarf {a major ingredient in French style} was even added to one. Brilliant!
