For seven days, Makati Shangri-La's Circles Event Café is going down under! Sydney-based chef, Matthew McCool, will take over their kitchen to showcase the culinary delights of Australia. My friends and I have tried a couple of these a few days ago, and they were bewdy!
In case you were wondering, no kangaroo meat was served. Yep, I was a little bummed out, too. The excellent dishes made up for that particular yearning, though.

Tomato Soup Damper and Dukkah |
A classic smooth tomato soup with a vital hint of spice, and had just the right amount of acerbity. It's paired with a damper {A traditional Australian bread}, dukkah {a mixture of crushed hazelnuts, spices, and herbs}, and olive oil.

Cheese Board |
Serious caseophiles will have a grand time with this impressive selection of farmhouse Australian cheeses. It is paired with a glass of full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon from McGuigan Wines.

Beetroot Salmon |
This was amazingly delicious! The tender, silky smooth beetroot-cured Tasmanian salmon strips dissipate in the mouth in an uncomplicated fashion. The flavor was tempered by slices of red onion, capers, mandarin orange, and pickled radish.

Quinoa Salad |
Healthy can indeed be tasty! A pleasing plate of mildly nutty and crunchy quinoa with cherry tomatoes, grilled capsicum, and preserved lemons.

Roasted Lamb Rack |
This dizzyingly good and tender Darling Downs {a farming region in Queensland, Australia} lamb with lemon myrtle alone made the entire lunch worthwhile. I'm not a big fan of lamb because of the gamey taste, but this was devoid of that. If you're visiting Circles Event Café soon, put this one high on your agenda.

Steam Snapper |
Another healthy option from the lunch list is this steamed red snapper, mussels, ginger, and baby potatoes in light soy.

Lamingtons |
The two dessert varieties were as interesting as the rest of the dishes. They're traditional Australian favorites with a modern twist. Lamingtons are considered as the National Cake of Australia. The sponge cake squares are hugged by chocolate icing and dried coconut flakes. Served in a shot glass is the Native Finger Lime Pavlova - meringue chunks, cream, and finger lime syrup.
