Have you guys heard about Jon Bon Jovi's Soul Kitchen? It's not a new thing or a new album for that matter. It's a restaurant that's been in operation since 2011. I just recently remembered it while looking at the list of the places I'd like to dine at.
The concept is pretty simple, but very cool. Well, I expected nothing less from the man. Anyway, the Red Bank, NJ resto doesn't have prices on their menu!
You go there, enjoy a three-course meal {which according to reviews are pretty amazing}, then pay the minimum donation of $10 or go a little higher for others in need of a good meal. That's it! If you don't have have 10 bucks, it's okay! You have the option to do volunteer work as payment.
The JBJ Soul Foundation's aim is to "combat issues that force families and individuals into
economic despair. We invite you to join us in our fight against hunger and
homelessness and support our desire to provide safe and affordable housing
options in the communities in which we work. We are committed to rebuilding
pride in one's self and one's community."
I was wondering if we have one like this in this part of the world. We have the occasional eat-for-a-cause event, but nothing that's consistent. Well, that's as far as I know, though. Anyhoo, I'm really amazed by this, and I really think that many will benefit from a place like this here. Hope is indeed delicious!
