Seafood is something I can go for tenths sans self-condemnation. I simply love it! I had a good round of seafood dishes recently at Marriott Hotel Manila's Marriott Café! They are bringing the best of the sea to their guests from March until the end of April this year!
My friends and I arrived early to take advantage of a sparsely occupied Marriott Café for photo ops. By around 8:00 pm, diners started piling in. If you want to get-the-most-out-of-the-buffet experience, you have to be there at exactly 7:00 pm.
The seafood ice bar will tempt you like no other! I wanted to have each and every fresh catch cooked! There's salmon, tuna loin, tanigue, pompano, talakitok, lapu-lapu, maya-maya, blue marlin, and gindara. It doesn't end there, of course!
Jumbo prawns, scallop, clams, jumbo squid, shrimp, sea crab, curacha, and mussels are available, too! You can have them cooked any way you want or give the chef carte blanche. We chose the latter, and boy, were we surprised!
Executive Chef Meik Brammer made sure that the fresh sea produce comes from sustainable sources (Norpac Fisheries Port), by the way.
The Salted Egg Crabs were amazing! My good friend, Richie, kept teasing me about my lack of self-restraint when that dish hit our table. I ate it all in record time along with Steamed Lapu-Lapu in Soy Sauce, Salt and Pepper Prawns, Buttered Curacha, and a hunk of Rib-eye. That's round one.
Like what you sea? That's the best pun I can come up with right now. Sorry.
Cru Steakhouse is offering more than meat for the aforementioned months like the Tuna Tartare above and the Grilled Tuna Steak {PhP 1,100} below. I'm not gonna lie, in my humble opinion, both were exceptional!
Tuna Poke and Ceviche selection
A buffet will never be complete without the Sushi and Sashimi Station! Salmon!! Those silky, deep pink chunks of euphoria were too addicting!
My youngest boy is not big on seafood like me. He likes meat...a lot of it. If you're like my boy, have no fret because meat is present in Marriott Café's buffet! Although the buffet is {obviously} dominated by seafood, they pretty much have a well-rounded selection.
The chef nails that rib-eye! My son had five. The upside of it being sliced thinner than usual? You can easily finish one, and have go again! We love food. We hate waste. Yes?
Marriott Café's dessert choices were nothing short of awesome, especially the gelato and the cakes! The gelato are made from superbly sourced fresh ingredients. The strawberry and salted caramel stole my heart away - you're not alone, the cliché is killing me, too. They're devoid of the cloyingly sweet factor, superbly supple, and just ridiculously good!
