The Burger Joint's No Gimmick Burgers

The Burger Joint

The Burger Joint's claim: Burgers done right. What kind of 'right' are they talking about? All-beef burger patties. No extenders. No meat fillers. No pink slime. No gimmick.

The mouthwatering and reasonably priced creations are inspired by the different burgers all over good 'ol Murica. The owners took a long road trip to get a taste of the different burgers that's distinct in each state. I initially thought that this was a franchise of the one in the US. But no; it's 100% homegrown.

All the burgers at TBJ are cooked via a smashed technique to brown the crust and make them slightly crispy, while the center retains all those good juices. They also grind the beef daily on site and they make their own brioche buns, too.

The Burger Joint Loaded Nachos
Loaded Nachos  PhP 159

I was floored right off the bat with this refreshing nachos! Instead of having a routine garnish, this one is topped with watermelon salsa! Really good! And as evidenced by {yes, let's be formal like that} the photo above, you can clearly see that the toppings amply cover the tortilla chips. As long as you don't have a greedy friend with you, the toppings can last even up to the buried chips underneath the pile. I love it with a lot of cilantro!

The Burger Joint BBQ Sesame Buffalo Wings Classic Buffalo Wings
BBQ Sesame  PhP 179  and  Buffalo Classic  PhP  179

I like the Buffalo Classic better, though the real The Tummy Travel prefers the BBQ Sesame. Despite the difference in preference, we agreed that both were well-cooked and perfectly seasoned. You can get them with rice. The owners originally didn't want to incorporate rice in their menu, but in this part of the world, that simple act can be considered a food business sin. We live and breathe rice!

The Burger Joint Pulled Pork Burger
Pulled Pork Burger  PhP 195

This Pulled Pork Burger would be my top pick. The quarter pound patty is heartily coated with melted American cheese, sour cream, and of course, pulled pork! That pulled pork was really tender and flavorful. Never mind the calorie count. I was happy to know that at that price, this burger didn't turn out to be a loser.

The Burger Joint Vegas Burger
Vegas Burger  PhP 245

My biggest concern about this burger was the guacamole. See, I love that stuff, so I asked them if it's gonna be a constant or if they're gonna have a replacement when avocados are not in season. It's a legit question, by the way. That's usually a hide-and-seek ingredient in some of the restos here in Manila. They pinky swore that they will always have it. I can now sleep better at night.

The Vegas comes in a close second for me. It's beautiful by design, but a blissful mess to eat. Who cares? It's delicious! If you're not messy enough by the time you're done with it, you're not doing it right. It has strips of crispy bacon, sunny-side up egg, lettuce, and guacamole!

This TBJ burger will give you a slight TMJ {Temporomandibular joint dysfunction - for those who are too lazy to Google the acronym}. It's a beast! #thatswhatshesaid The stuffed patty, being the star of the thick mount, didn't disappoint. Melted cheese is nestled at the core. Garnishing includes strips of bacon, lettuce, raw onions, tomatoes, and lettuce.

I forgot to take a photo of TBJ's Iced Tea. It's really, really good! What's equally good is their Strawberry Malt Shake - not too sweet, thick, and it's simply a great way to cool off on a hot summer day. I had two. I could've gone for a third, but then I remembered that I'm on a strict diet.
