Sometimes, a beautiful house in a movie gets ingrained in my brain more than the storyline. Does that happen to you? Tom Ford's 'A Single Man' is brilliant, but it's George's house that left me wanting more! I want to explore every single corner of that place if given the chance. I found out a couple of months after I watched the movie that John Lautner was the man responsible for that piece of architectural excellence.
It's called the Schaffer House - named after the former owner. It was built in 1949 as a pied-à-terre for the Schaffer family in Glendale, CA. It was their picnic place. They apparently asked the architect to design a house that will bring the outdoors in. They decided later on to make it their permanent home. Who wouldn't? It's magnificent!

Onward and Upward!
