Since being born in 1978 at Nishi-Biwajima-Cho in the outskirts of Nagoya, Coco Ichibanya Curry House has made a breakthrough all over the world including Manila! Aside from their first branch at Estancia mall, a new one is being constructed in the Greenhills area. My boys and I are highly anticipating for the opening of that one!
Fried Squid Salad PhP 150 |
Coco Ichibanya specializes in Japanese curry, but they have more than that to offer. They have a variety of salads for those who want to keep it light such as the one above. Lightly battered and deep-fried calamari circles tops the medley of crispy lettuce. You have two options for the dressing: Sesame or Japanese. I personally like the first one.
How To Order
If you're a first-timer, don't fret about how to order. Coco Ichibanya's menu has a step-by-step guide on how to to do it. For those who can't wait to get a how-to, here's a summary:
1. Choose your basic curry mix. They have quite an extensive list of combos!
2. Choose the volume of rice: 200g, 300g, 400g, 500g, and 600g.
3. Choose your level of heat. I usually just go for the standard. The next level {Medium Hot} is too much for me already. Unless I'm hating on someone, and want to breathe fire on that person, I'm certainly not gonna dare try the Crazy Hot level!
If you prefer to have some soup, drink, salad, and dessert, it's more prudent to get the Set Menu. I usually do that rather than order each one separately.
Pork Curry Cutlet PhP 340 |
Above is just one of their most-loved mixes. My son ordered the additional sausage topping {PhP 130} and cheese {PhP 80}. Cheese is a staple add-on for us! We just can't have a Japanese curry without that gooey beauty!
Cheese Hamburger Curry PhP 360 |
Coco Ichibanya's Cheese Hamburger Curry is a huge hit for both kids and adults! Smack in the center of the flavorful and sizable meat is a lava of delicious cheese! Yeah, I agree with you. It doesn't look appetizing in the shot above, but boy is it delicious!
Stewed Shrimp Curry PhP 360 |
The Stewed Shrimp Curry is a staple order for me. It's very filling without going overboard. The shrimps are not too big, but they are juicy and really tasty! Throw in some cheese in there for an extra satisfying experience!
