Rita's Blendini is my have-to-have every so often. My boys are fond of their products, too! The eldest prefers the Frozen Custard, while the youngest is more adventurous when it comes to having his Rita's fix.
Thankfully, Rita's offerings are aplenty! They have Italian Ice, Frozen Custard, Gelati, Misto Shake, Frozen Lemonade, Milkshakes, Sundaes, and the Blendini. If you don't know what to order, you can ask one of the servers to surprise you with his/her own combination.
The choices don't end there! They also have Custard Cookie Sandwiches! Rita's highly dense and well-praised frozen custard is hugged by two pieces of either OREO Cookie Wafers or Chocolate Chip Cookies. You can have the entire circumference covered with any of their delicious toppings, too!
Rita's Frozen Custard is a real winner! It's thicker, richer, creamier, and smoother than ice cream because of the addition of egg yolk. It doesn't melt that easily. That wee bit of info is helpful for those who take a lot of shots of their food before posting it on Instagram. I am sooooo guilty of this.
The Italian Ice, on the other hand, is flavored with real fruits and is trans-fat free. A combo of the frozen custard and the Italian ice {Gelati} remains Rita's top seller. I like it on some days, but the Blendini is still my favorite!
New at Rita's
I can't begin to tell you how dependent I am on coffee. It's my daily fuel; my life force. Having said that, I am pleased that Rita's Greenhills opened a Coffee Bar behind the main store! Their Flat White is real must-try as well as the Affogato {above} - a swirl of vanilla frozen custard with espresso! That thing is perfection! I may have to ditch the Blendini soon.
They're coming up with new coffee and frozen custard combinations, and I'm really excited about that!
Rita's Frozen Custard Cakes got me a bit nostalgic. Regardless if it was our birthday or not, my mom used to buy us {my siblings and I} ice cream cakes way back when I was still super fat and cute. I loved it so much! I got a huge thrill from eating the cake and playing with the dry ice that came with it.
This is a better version of that, I think. They have a Blendini Cake and a Gelati Cake. If those two doesn't tickle your fancy, you can have one made with your preferred frozen custard flavor and toppings. We tried the Mango Gelati, and it was delicious! The cakes require an advance notice, by the way. Two days, according to the staff, is enough.
