There's nothing better than feasting on consistently good food! I've yet to experience a ghastly dish or at the very least, a stereotypical one at The Bowery or any of Chef Cuit Kaufman's restos. It's not that I'm anticipating it or anything. It's just kinda, uhm, surprisingly rare.
I went more than once at The Bowery during the wee hours of the morning just to get my fill of the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles and The Lobster Shrimp Truffle Mac and Cheese. I used to frequent Borough too, and have managed to get my sister addicted to the Cheese-Injected Portobello Pita Pocket! Okay! I just got myself hungry again. It's almost one in the morning right now. There's a big chance that I'll head over to either right after I'm done with this!
Having a dish paired with a wine or beer is a dime a dozen. A cocktail and food pairing is a slight deviation from the usual that turned out to be ideal! Well, in my humble opinion, I think they turned out great because both can hold its own. They complement each other perfectly, but they can also give anyone a thrill separately.
Lobster Shrimp Truffle Mac and Cheese PhP 1,300 / SSS PhP 280 |
I'm not gonna lie, one of most sought after starters at The Bowery is not on the side of cheap. I take comfort in knowing that I'll have tears of joy in a single forkful! Every single component {crème fraîche , cream cheese, cracked black pepper, garlic, mozzarella, and truffle oil} directly goes to the direction of total yum! No wanly vibes whatsoever!
The cocktail paired with the Lobster Shrimp Truffle Mac and Cheese and the Steamed Mussels called the "SSS" or Sixth Street Special {named after the SSS in New York} is just as gratifying! The concoction that created a welcoming sensory party is composed of Absolut Vanilla Vodka, Citrus, Turmeric, and Star Anise. My favorite among all!

The fresh and sweet flesh of the mussels are infused with the fine flavors of the Thai-spiced beer broth! Each bowl comes with grilled sourdough bread.
Roasted Rosemary Chicken PhP 480 / Margariri PhP 300 |
This is really delicious! The combination of the rosemary slicked chicken, the rough-hewn parmesan polenta, and the red wine steeped cherries having a sweet battle in my mouth was amazing! My heart was set on the Mac and Cheese, but this was just as blissful. It's paired with the Margariri - margarita with fresh citrus, apple vinegar, and red wine floater.
Grandma's Pear Pie PhP 650 / Swazerac PhP 440 |
The endings were just as robust and memorable. The first one is Grandma's Pear Pie. It's Chef Cuit' Kaufman's homage to his grandmother's own. The element that made it deliriously pleasant for me was the lard crust! That thing is intense! It made the filling, vanilla bean ice cream, and the hot toddy caramel sauce - what's that word? - supernacular!
The Grandma's Pear Pie and Death by Chocolate are both paired with Swazerac. It's The Bowery's take on the official cocktail of New Orleans: Sazerac. The bold blend of Rittenhouse Rye 100 proof, Xocolatl mole bitters, orange cream bitters, and chocolate liqueur tear drops perfectly complemented the 7 chocolate components of the Death by Chocolate!
