A Bittersweet Lunch at Brasserie CiÇou

Brasserie CiÇou had an incredible ride in the restaurant scene over the last couple of years, but as we all know, even the great ones must come to an end. More about this later. Let's focus first on Brasserie CiÇou's holiday treats!

Brasserie CiÇou Greenhills

Brasserie CiÇou Greenhills Bonbon of Lam Shoulder Tajine-style the best followed by the Gougère of Herbed Goat Cheese and Tuna Tartare on Toasted CiÇou bread

We had a couple of savory one-bites while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. I loved the Bonbon of Lam Shoulder Tajine-style the best followed by the Gougère of Herbed Goat Cheese and Tuna Tartare on Toasted CiÇou bread.

Parfait of Smoked Fish Mousse, Seafood Aspic, Herring Caviar, Squid Ink Tuile, and Micro Salad

This magical little potion in a shot glass is a fusion of fantastic flavors and textures! It took us roughly three teaspoonfuls to finish the Parfait of Smoked Fish Mousse, Seafood Aspic, Herring Caviar, Squid Ink Tuile, and Micro Salad; but that's all it took for us to give swoony oohs and ahhs!

slow-cooked egg, creamy chestnut purée, chestnut chips, sautéed cauliflower, assorted mushrooms à la bordelaise, basic foam, and tuile

The "Egg in the Forest" comprises of a slow-cooked egg, creamy chestnut purée, chestnut chips, sautéed cauliflower, assorted mushrooms à la bordelaise, basic foam, and tuile. It is as intense and delicious as it looks!

fricassee of escargot, romaine lettuce, lardons, royale of sea urchin, smoked parsley cream sauce, squid, and flounder

You'd know the amount of effort placed on this bowl of fricassee of escargot, romaine lettuce, lardons, royale of sea urchin, smoked parsley cream sauce, squid, and flounder upon first taste. The flavors were balanced to a tee! I refused to have a single drop of the precious sauce that pooled in the bottom go to waste, so I scraped it off with some bread. So delicious!

Bouef Bourguignon Revisited

The Bouef Bourguignon Revisited is sous-vide hanging beef tender with foie gras as center! It's a tweak of the richly flavored Brasserie CiÇou hit that reinstilled in our brains the brilliance of Chef Cyrille Soenen! It's amazing! It comes with truffle potato pave, glazed baby vegetables, and generously drizzled with bourguignon sauce.

Lemon Merengue Tartelette, Mousse au Chocolat, and Kouignette

The lunch's conclusion was just as wonderful as the rest! We started with this lovely mix of Lemon Merengue Tartelette, Mousse au Chocolat, and Kouignette. And since it's the festive season, Brasserie CiÇou has a festive offering of their famous Kouign Amann! Bûche de Noël is a yule log of kouign amann covered with chocolate chantilly, chocolate shards, mushroom merengue, and fresh fruits! It's a heart-stopping treat that will definitely impress whoever you are gonna give it to this Christmas! I know I'll be. The yule log is said to bring good fortune, too!

Don Papa Rum Raisin Kouign Amann with Crème Légère

God bless the Kouign! Brasserie CiÇou has another variety of their famous Kouign Amann for the holidays: Don Papa Rum Raisin Kouign Amann with Crème Légère! My words will never ever give justice to this kouign, but I'm surely gonna try! It's a jaw-meet-floor dessert with a whisper of don papa rum. That bit of kick enhances the dynamic flavors that made the kouign extra enticing!

All the above along with their greatest hits will be available until the 31st of December 2015 only. Brasserie CiÇou will, unfortunately, close its doors after the said date. But it's not a goodbye for Chef Cyrille and his team. A new concept is currently being concocted in his brain. There's no exact date or place yet, but we are all hoping that it will be very soon!

These are a pretty strong last hurrah for Brasserie CiÇou. If you haven't tried Brasserie CiÇou yet, please do visit them. They serve dishes that are a bargain for their quality. Seriously.
