Magnolia Bakery at GYRE Mall Tokyo

I was on a hunt for something at GYRE Mall when I chanced upon this familiar establishment: Magnolia Bakery! It's been years since I last had a taste of their cupcakes in New York. I told my boys to immediately score a table while I buy a couple of their cult classics.

 

I, and maybe one hundred million more people, first got curious about Magnolia Bakery when I saw Carrie Bradshaw and Miranda Hobbes eating their famous cupcakes in one of Sex and the City's episodes. Only a huge SATC fan will understand the impact those ladies had on me. 

I watched this lady put icing on the mini cakes for a couple of minutes before we left the place. It's both entertaining and relaxing at the same time, I tell you. I'm pretty sure I looked like a real creep staring at her the way I did. 

 

I got Red Velvet, Pistachio, Caramel, and Vanilla Cupcakes! No matcha cupcakes for me. Thank you!

To be honest, I've never really been big on cupcakes. I could easily eat one, maybe two, but it's not something I would continuously crave for. That was a universal statement.

Still, having said that, I appreciate those dense cupcakes adorned with thick buttercream. They are really delicious! I especially like the one laced with caramel - just because I have a penchant for that stuff more than the rest. It goes well with a strong cup of coffee.

Variants of cakes are on display for those who want more than just Magnolia's famous cupcakes. Those at the bottom are banana puddings! Their banana pudding is melded to perfection!
