A Staycation at The Hyatt City of Dreams' Club Room

I don't believe in delaying the inevitable, so I'm just gonna go out and say it: I had a wonderful staycation at the Hyatt City of Dreams!

We stay in hotels for different reasons, and how we value the experience depend on those. Some stay for a business trip, others for travel, a few check-in to simply think, and then there are those who stay in fine hotels as a means of recharging their internal batteries. For us, it's to spend quality time with the kids.

Having said that, a major amenity that we need is a nice swimming pool. Hyatt City of Dreams' pool and garden was a complete revelation! When the sun hits the golden towers {likened to a stack of gold bars}, it paints a warm glow all around the well-manicured lawn. Every angle you shoot is pretty; no need for filters! I had to tone down the saturation level of these photos because the original shots all look like they've been slapped twice with Slumber filter.

The dome-shaped area near the poolside is called the Fortune Egg. It houses two nightclubs: Pangaea and Chaos.

Hyatt City of Dreams has 362 guestrooms that are divided into two towers. Tower 2 houses rooms that are bigger than Tower 1.

We were placed in one of the Club rooms at Tower 2, and it is really spacious! Even the bathroom is big enough to hold a mini party at. That was an exaggeration, of course. But seriously, it was very ample in size. I also like their toiletries. They have different kinds of soaps. I particularly like the massage soap for bathing.

The room is furnished with two double beds and equipped with the basic amenities plus some extras. Also, the Wi-Fi connection is great! And then there're the sheets, too. I'm not overly finicky with details such as a Pillow Menu. Fancy, but totally unnecessary for me. I got everything on the Pillow Menu at this hotel we stayed at, by the way. I barely felt the difference except for the lavender-scented pillow. I liked it in the beginning until it started messing up my sinuses. I wanted to ask for a Vicks VapoRub-scented pillow after that.

Anyway, a very clean room makes me happy. I am hard-nosed when it comes to good sheets though, and our room has exactly that! Immaculate, soft, and they smell really good.

You can't tell it from the photo alone, but that tub can comfortably hold one LeBron James or three me's.

One of the best things that I like about our room is the view. For a man-made scene, this one's pretty good! The only view in the area that can top this is that of the bay's. The pool in the photo is Crown Hotel's.

The Hyatt City of Dreams Manila Club Lounge

Here's one more reason to choose a Club room: you can have unlimited access to the Club Lounge located on the 7th floor! You can have your breakfast, dinner, and snacks here plus pre-dinner drinks {alcoholic and non-alcoholic} from 6 PM until 8 PM. Everything is included in the Club room's rate.

Breakfast, dinner, and all-day snacks are all served in buffet style. Don't expect a hefty spread because this is only a lounge. If you prefer more options, the The Café is the place to go. Above is the Laksa Station and below is the Bread and Cheese Station. The laksa here is pretty good!

You can have non-alcoholic drinks, cookies, and cakes as much as you want until they close up at 11 PM, by the way. Their peanut butter cookies are a must-try!

What made our staycation a memorable one at Hyatt City of Dreams is the combination of these three: comfortable room, good food, and a cordial service. As a staycationer, all the amenities and deluxe extras are welcomed bonuses, but what truly matters are those three.

For avid travelers, however, this news is probably a total hallelujah to them: with the completion of the NAIA Expressway, we were told that the travel time between the local and international airports to the Hyatt City of Dreams will only be 5 minutes! All they have to worry now are the flight delays.
