Is it such a loser move to buy a Valentine's Day gift for yourself? Maybe for some, but for others, it is a demonstration of power.
Don't get me wrong, it is definitely nice to be surprised with a gift on Valentine's Day. It is better when the gift is something you really, really, really like. Just being honest here.
It doesn't always happen, though. This is not solely reserved for the single ladies, by the way. Those who are happy with their significant others buy gifts for themselves, too.
Now, there are tons of whys for that - your partner doesn't believe in Valentine's Day {ladies bleed more red this time of the month than most, so if you don't know that, you're shit out of luck}, he's strapped for cash, he forgot, etc. These examples doesn't resonate lack of love, ladies. We all know that. Well maybe some of them do, but that's neither here nor there.
Anyway, we all read and hear about loving thyself. I think we're allowed to be selfish once in a while, right? We can't put all our hopes in one person. That's just the way it is. It's true what Proust said: It is our imagination that is responsible for love, not the other person.
Your partner maybe good in other things; he's just not good with the whole Valentine's Day thing, and that's okay. You are, and you're hustling your way through life.
