Okay, first off, I just want to say that I'm not a coffee snob nor will I ever be. Whatever I say here is just my personal preference.
For example, in terms of commercial coffee franchises here, I like Figaro better than Starbucks and Seattle's Best Coffee. That doesn't mean that those last two serve terrible brews. I just like Figaro's blends better. That's my preference.
I don't know. I just drink whatever tastes good to me.

Figaro's Grand Xocolat Gateau PhP 1,250 |
I was bummed out when the Promenade branch closed down. Not only did I frequent it for a quick and good coffee fix; it was my go-to coffee place when my boys and I watch a movie.
Why? First, the coffee's good. Secondly, they give discounts for moviegoers. I'm still hoping that they would open a new one in the area soon—even a coffee kiosk near the cinema would be ideal.
A good cup of java is enough as it is. I think we can all agree on that. However, pairing it with an equally good slice of cake is extra pleasurable, yeah?
Coffee's good with scones, doughnut, pastries...basically, a lot of food. But I like cakes. I like cakes a whole lot.
So there I was one rainy afternoon (no thanks to the typhoon), enjoying a slice of Figaro's Grand Xocolat Gateau and a cup of Figaro's Metro Blend.
The Grand Xocolat Gateau is a light stack of chocolate sponge, coated in glossy deep dark-chocolate icing, and adorned with piped frosting and thin chocolate slices. *sigh* Heaven.
Figaro has 7 blends, each priced at PhP 350. The Metro Blend marries hazelnut, chocolate, and nutmeg perfectly. I usually drop 1 tablea of Malagos 85% dark chocolate if I'm not pairing a cup with any sweets. Sooo good!
As you all know, we're living in a crazy time. I never thought this would happen in our lifetime, but here we are. I'm not gonna pile on that and make you more anxious than you need to be. We already have tons of news sites for that kind of negativity. That's the reason why I rarely watch the news, by the way.
Anyway, where was I? Oh, I think the Gourmet Mealbox is a brilliant idea. It's affordable and really good!
During these times, if the wallet is willing, we have to unleash our inner angels. If you're thinking of doing a meal train, these gourmet mealboxes would be perfect. You can do a meal train for, say, 5 frontliners (e.g. nurses, doctors, janitors, etc.).
Anyway, it's just an idea. But if you're interested, you can order them on Figaro's website.
Stay safe!
